The Blott Works Standard: Authenticity & Provenance
Every Blott Works piece is an engineered sculpture, designed and manufactured by Dan Morrison in his Todmorden workshop. While our aesthetic is often celebrated, the integrity of a genuine piece lies in the details that cannot be mass-produced.
How to Identify a Genuine Blott Works Original:
Material Integrity: We use solid hardwoods (Oak, Ash, Walnut) and industrial-grade metals (Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Brass). We do not use plated "pot metals," plastic components, or simulated wood finishes.
Engineering Precision: Each piece is machined using manual "old school" engineering tools—lathes and pillar drills—not high-volume factory stamping. You will feel the weight, the balance, and the mechanical "click" of a precision-built object.
The Maker’s Mark: Every authentic sculpture is badged and numbered. If it doesn't carry the Blott Works mark and a UK-based provenance, it is not an original.
Direct Support: When you own a Blott Works piece, you have a direct line to the maker. We provide lifelong support for our mechanical designs.
A Note on Reproductions
We are aware of low-quality imitations appearing on third-party marketplaces. These "lookalike" products often use our copyrighted photography but deliver inferior, lightweight materials and unsafe electrical components.
An original Blott Works piece is never sold through mass-market discount platforms. To ensure you are investing in a genuine work of British engineering and art, please purchase directly through our studio or our authorized gallery partners. If in any doubt, contact us and we can investigate.
