Our Environmental Responsibilities

At Blott Works, sustainability is an integral part of our ethos. Our approach is rooted in the understanding that we have a role to play in preserving our environment while still producing captivating, high-quality functional sculptures.

Each piece we create is a combination of woods and metals - aluminium, brass, steel, hardwoods, plywoods, and veneers. These materials are not only selected for their aesthetic appeal and durability but also their minimal overall environmental impact. Our designs are future-proofed as much as possible, built to last many years and crafted to be technologically adaptable. They are compatible with standard LED bulbs and fittings, and can be converted to new technological standards as they evolve.

One of the cornerstones of our sustainability policy is ensuring that our work is easy to maintain. The woods and metals can easily be reinvigorated with a quick rub with a cloth, or the application of a bit of metal or furniture polish. If one of our pieces has had a hard life and requires a major makeover, it can be easily dismantled, cleaned, and rebuilt. This approach significantly extends the life of our products and reduces the need for replacements.

Finally, should the unimaginable happen and our works are no longer wanted, we've designed them to be easily recyclable. Each piece can be separated into its component materials very easily. Brass, aluminium, and steel can be recycled indefinitely and economically without any loss of quality, while the wood can be repurposed into composite materials.
